Katherine A. Hansen

Katherine A. Hansen currently prosecutes criminal appeals in the Colorado Court of
Appeals and Colorado Supreme Court. She also represents the Department of Law and the
respective wardens in federal habeas corpus cases that are based on state convictions. She
has lectured on suppression issues to state prosecutors and law enforcement for over six
years, and has numerous published cases in both state courts on that topic, as well as many
other criminal topics. She worked as a prosecutor for the First Judicial District Attorney’s
Office before starting her own private law practice. She then went on to the Colorado
Attorney General’s Office in 1997, where she is currently a Senior Assistant Attorney
General.
