Warren Edson, Esq., served as one of the organizers of Colorado's medical marijuana law, Amendment 20, as well Colorado’s recreational cannabis law Amendment 64. A criminal defense attorney and Respondent Parent Council, Edson has practiced law since 1995. In 1997, he was successful in using a "choice of evils" medical marijuana affirmative defense before Colorado had even passed its law protecting patients and caregivers. In 2019 he successfully defended The International Church of Cannabis against Denver criminal charges. Since assisting with the passage of Amendment 20, Edson has worked closely with patients and caregivers, facilitating the return of plants, growing equipment, and cured marijuana. Edson is also a noted commentator on medical marijuana, having been interviewed by the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, Denver Post, and FOX News. Edson has spent the last 14 years working in Jefferson County’s Family Integrated Treatment Court helping parents navigate the Dependency and Neglect system.
