Michael A. O'Hara III

Honorable Michael A. O'Hara III grew up in Southern California.  He received a bachelor's degree from St. Mary's Seminary College in 1981 and his juris doctorate in 1984 from the University of San Diego.  He worked as an associate attorney for Grimes and Warwick in San Diego until 1991, primarily representing those accused of crimes in federal and state court.  In 1991 Mick moved his family to Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  He worked at what would become Oliphant, Hammond and O'Hara, from 1991 until 2003, practicing general criminal and civil litigation.  Mick was appointed as a district court judge and has also been the chief judge and water judge since 2003.  He was awarded the Colorado Judicial Institute's Judicial Excellence Award for District Court Judge in 2016.  He is also a certified ski jumping judge and mediator.  He is actively involved in several committees with the Judicial Branch and the Colorado Bar Association and tries to “give back” by assisting with C.L.E. presentations.  He enjoys all aspects of the outdoors in this beautiful State.
