Nicholas J. LoBurgio

Honorable Nicholas J. LoBurgio (ret.), is a former Regional Chief Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) with the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review, SSA. He was named Acting Hearing Office Chief Administrative Law Judge for the Denver Hearing Office effective October 1, 2012 and was selected as permanent Hearing Office Chief in March 2013. He was selected for the position of Regional Chief Administrative Law Judge on September 4, 2014. Prior to becoming an ALJ, he was the Regional Attorney, Denver Region, Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA), encompassing nearly 18 years of service with that agency. From 1974 through 1979, he served on active duty in the United States Air Force. After 20 years in the USAF Reserves, he entered reserve retirement in September 1999, as a Lieutenant Colonel, and retired in September 2009, with 35 years of creditable service. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas (B.A. Medieval History, 1971), the University of Kansas, School of Law (J.D., 1974) and the George Washington University, National Law Center (LLM. Labor, 1977).
