Marlin W. Burke
Marlin W. Burke has been practicing law in Colorado since 1971. His practice focuses on immigration law. He also has a litigation practice that includes family law, personal injury, employment law, and workers' compensation. He served as an administrative law judge with the Colorado Division of Labor hearing workers' compensation cases. He is the author of numerous articles and books on immigration and workers' compensation law. Included in the list of published articles are “Reexamining Immigration: Is It a Local or National Issue,” Denver University Law Review; and “2006 Immigration Legislation in Colorado,” The Colorado Lawyer (Oct. 2006). He is the author of a book, Disabilities, Civil Rights and Workers' Compensation Law in Colorado: An Analysis of the Interrelationships of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Federal and State Civil Rights Acts and the Colorado Workers' Compensation Act (1993). He is co-author of the workers' compensation practice manual, Colorado Workers' Compensation Law and Practice, published in the years 1991 to 1996.
Mr. Burke is licensed before all Colorado courts; the Federal District Court, District of Colorado; the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals; and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, Denver Bar Association, American Immigration Lawyers Association, and Colorado Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He is a founder of the Immigration Section of the Colorado Bar Association.
Mr. Burke is also the recipient of several prestigious community service awards, including the Minoru Yasui Community Volunteer, October 2007; the Colorado Adult Education Professional Association and Colorado Department of Education, Volunteer of the Year, 2007; and The Colorado Supreme Court Pro Bono Certificate for the Years 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.
He is a Fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation. He has been rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubble for more than 30 years.
