Kandace C. Gerdes
Second Judicial District
Honorable Kandace C. Gerdes was appointed judge for the Second Judicial District in 2013. Prior to appointment, Judge Gerdes was in private practice focusing on civil and criminal tax controversy resolution and practiced primarily in the United States Tax Court, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Gerdes then was employed with the Denver District Attorney's Office as an expert witness in forensic accounting and federal and state taxation. Most recently, she was a Senior Deputy District Attorney assigned to the Economic Crime Unit and several metro task forces. She graduated from Creighton University School of Law with a J.D. and the University of Denver, with a L.L.M. in Taxation. Judge Gerdes is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Denver Bar Association, Colorado Women's Bar Association, and Rhone-Brackett Inn of Court.
