University Corporation for Atmospheric ResearchMeg McClellan is the General Counsel for the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR). Meg oversees the diverse legal needs of the corporation, including giving advice and counsel on complex transactions, statutory and regulatory compliance issues, export, intellectual property, technology transfer, human resources, ethics, insurance and risk management matters. Meg also serves as counsel to the board of trustees/directors for UCAR and the UCAR Foundation and other subsidiaries.
Prior to coming to UCAR in May 2000, Meg was a partner in a downtown Denver law firm (Slivka Robinson Waters & O'Dorisio) and specialized in commercial litigation, intellectual property, technology, employment and complex contract law. Meg has lectured on topics such as, Intellectual Property in Government Contracts; Research Misconduct; Open Source and IP Protection; and Email and the Internet in the Workplace. Meg has also served on several not-for-profit boards in the Denver metro area, including as Chair of the Jefferson County Cultural Council (1995) and Chair of the Board for Impact on Education (2007-08).
Meg currently serves on the Association of Corporate Counsel, Colorado Chapter Board and volunteers as a mentor for newer attorneys for the Boulder County Bar Association. She was a member of the Leadership Boulder Class of 2001. Meg earned her B.A. in Economics in 1983 from Colorado College and her J.D. in 1990 from the University of Colorado School of Law. Prior to attending law school, Meg was involved in the high technology industry.
