Bruce A. Kugler
Bruce A. Kugler is a partner in the firm's patent prosecution group. His practice primarily focuses on the prosecution of patents in the areas of mechanical, electro-mechanical, chemical and process engineering. Bruce represents and manages the IP portfolios of numerous medium and large international companies with respect to all aspects of patent, trademark and copyright protection. Other areas of practice include the preparation of invalidity, non-infringement and freedom to practice opinions, as well as technology licensing and prosecuting design patents to assure protection for product configurations and unique ornamental shapes.
Mr. Kugler also provides guidance for designing around patented technology and advice and strategies for protecting trademarks, brands and company logos. Bruce works with a wide variety of companies in numerous industries and academic settings. These include manufacturers of metal containers and end closures, plastic bottles, automotive devices, precast concrete, archery equipment and luggage products. Other representative clients include companies in the oil and gas, environmental, bio-remediation, ranching, entertainment and sporting goods industries.
Mr. Kugler is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado and has 7 years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry. Bruce currently sits on the Board of Technology Transfer at the Colorado School of Mines and has been a guest lecturer and taught classes on intellectual property to engineering students at the Colorado School of Mines.
