Hon. Mark D. Thompson, Chief Judge Thompson is a Colorado native and graduate of Bates College ('89, Economics) and the University of Denver College of Law (J.D. '92).  Following 18 years of private practice in construction and real estate litigation, he was appointed to the District Court in 2010, and to the post of Chief Judge of the 5th Judicial District in 2013.  Chief Judge Thompson serves as chair of the Colorado Judicial branch's Information and Technology Services Standing Committee and the Virtual Proceedings Committee and also a member of the Supreme Court's Multi-District Litigation Panel, the Chief Justice's Bail Blue Ribbon Commission, and the Public Access Committee.   He is a contributing author to Colorado CLE's The Practitioner's Guide to Colorado Construction Law, received a nomination to the Colorado Judicial Institute for judicial officer of the year in 2020, and has testified before the State legislature.  Chief Judge Thompson carries a regular docket in Summit County District Court located in Breckenridge, Colorado.
