C. E. . Abernethy

C. E. Abernethy, Esq., retired as a Magistrate with the Denver County Court in Denver, Colorado in June of 2004, having been appointed in 1997 by Chief Judge Robert Patterson.  She is also the owner of Abernethy Law Office, a private firm that specializes in Landlord/tenant litigation, family law and probate. Prior to establishing her firm, Attorney Abernethy was a staff attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Denver.  There she developed expertise in the law of federally subsidized housing and tenant rights and she is now considered a leading authority. At Legal Aid, Ms. Abernethy was the lead counsel for the prevailing party in the Colorado Supreme Court case of DURAN -V- DENVER HOUSING AUTHORITY.  This case extensively defined the Colorado law of waiver and estoppel as it regarding landlords and tenants. Ms Abernethy resides in Denver, Colorado with her husband of many years. Last, but definitely not least, Ms. Abernethy is an author and the owner of Abernethy Law Office Publishing Corp. Her first product ABERNETHY'S ULTIMATE TENANT HANDBOOK, has sold more than 4000 copies on word of mouth publicity only. Her book provides a road map for a win/win relationship between tenants and landlords by educating tenants about their rights and responsibilities. Through her copywrited TENANT TALKS programs she provides her books, lectures, and seminars at very low costs to public high school students.
