Bob Hurford, P.E., is the Division Engineer for the Division of Water Resources, Water Division 4, the Gunnison River Basin. The main office is located in Montrose. Bob manages 29 employees in the administration of water rights and implementation of the Hydrography and Dam Safety Programs, as well as working directly with the water court and the general public. Bob received his Civil Engineering degree from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. First working as a water resources engineer for the State of California from 1993 to 2003. He was the City Engineer and Public Works Director for the City of Montrose from 2003 to 2007 before joining DWR as the Assistant Division Engineer at the Montrose office in August of 2007. After the retirement of Wayne Schieldt in 2008, Bob was promoted to Division Engineer. Bob enjoys homeschooling his two children, Roy and Rebekah; training and riding his horses with his wife Jill; and flyfishing the best waters the State of Colorado has to offer.
