Maritza D. Braswell

United States District Court
The Honorable Maritza Dominguez Braswell currently serves as a United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Colorado. She brings to the bench deep experience in complex commercial litigation, gained both in private practice and as a founding member of a tech-forward litigation firm. Prior to her judicial service, Judge Braswell also served as a Deputy Attorney General in the Colorado Attorney General's Office, where she led a large team of legal professionals and shaped statewide civil litigation strategy. Judge Braswell is nationally recognized as a thoughtful leader on the intersection of artificial intelligence and the law, with particular emphasis on responsible engagement with these technologies in litigation and judicial settings. She co-chairs the District of Colorado's AI Committee, helped launch the Judicial AI Consortium (JAIC) to foster cross-jurisdictional dialogue among judges on AI issues, and teaches on AI and the future of justice at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Judge Braswell also writes and speaks extensively on AI's implications for courts, legal institutions, and society.
