Margaret . McKeown
US Court of Appeals for the Ninth CircuitHonorable M. Margaret McKeown was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit by President Clinton and was confirmed by the United States Senate in 1998. Judge McKeown practiced law at Perkins Coie in Seattle and Washington, D.C., where she specialized in antitrust and intellectual property and was the firm's first woman partner. She has lectured and taught throughout the world on intellectual property, international law, human rights law, litigation, ethics, judicial administration, and constitutional law. Judge McKeown is presently Chair of the ABA Rule of Law Initiative Board, a member of the ALI Council, and immediate past President of the Federal Judges Association. She was awarded the ABA Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement award, the California IP Vanguard Award, and the Girl Scouts Cool Women Award, among others.
