Candace Werth, Esq., is the owner of Werth Law LLC, a law office in Thornton that specializes in Elder Law, Estate Planning and Probate. She opened Werth Law after spending 24 years as a prosecutor in both the 1st and 17th Judicial Districts covering Jefferson, Adams, and Broomfield counties. She has prosecuted 24 homicide cases including two capital cases, and spent her last four years as a prosecutor assigned to the Jeffco Elder Abuse Unit where she prosecuted the physical, financial and sexual abuse of older adults. Candace assisted in drafting the mandatory reporting of elder abuse legislation and helped write the P.O.S.T. curriculum on elder abuse and helped teach law enforcement officers around the state how to recognize, investigate and prosecute elder abuse. She was on the faculty with the National District Attorneys Association and has lectured on the state and national level in the areas of elder abuse, complex case litigation, courtroom technology, and other subjects. She has presented at the C.B.A. Elder Law Retreat and is a co-chair of the Adams and Broomfield Counties Senior Law Day. Although she is a near-native of Brighton, Colorado, she received her law degree, with distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law and her undergraduate degree from Cornell College, also in Iowa.
