Phillip Tucker is the founding partner and owner of THE TUCKER LAW FIRM where he currently practices law in Edmond, Oklahoma. He received undergraduate degrees from Oklahoma State University and the University of Central Oklahoma, ultimately graduating from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1983. He is licensed to practice in all Oklahoma state courts, the Cherokee Nation, the Seminole Nation, Western District of Oklahoma (district and bankruptcy) and the Supreme Court of the United States. He was the 2004 Chair of the Oklahoma Bar Association, Family Law Section (“OBA/FLS”); serves as a Senior Co-Editor of the Section's FAMILY LAW PRACTICE MANUAL from 2002 to present, as well as for years being actively involved on FLS's Legislative Committee. Currently, Phil is the Chair of the FLS's Trial Advocacy Institute (“TAI”). Since July 2014 to present, the week-long TAI program occurs at the Oklahoma Bar Center, resulting in a “graduation” trial at the Oklahoma County Courthouse on Saturday before family law Judges. Phil is also a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts; National Association of Counsel for Children; Oklahoma Academy of Collaborative Professionals (Board member 2011), International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, Oklahoma County Bar Association, and OTLA/ATLA. In 2003, Phil was recognized by the OBA as Oklahoma's Outstanding Family Law Attorney. In 2011, Phil was a recipient of the OBA's Earl Sneed Award for outstanding CLE contributions. Phil has been widely published and regularly presents, both locally and nationwide, in the areas of Adoption, Ethics, Paternity, Habeas Corpus/Writ proceedings, Guardianship, Military law, Guardian at litem training, Trial Advocacy and Law Practice Management; as well as, being a contributing author for the OBA/FLS PRACTICE MANUAL. He currently sits on the OBA Solo & Small Firm Conference Planning Committee, Military Assistance Task Force [volunteer Hero's attorney], Legislative Oversite Committee, is the technology Liaison for the Section Leader's Council, and is an Oklahoma Bar Foundation Fellow. Phil has been an active member of the American Bar Association Section of Family Law since 1995. He currently is a member on the Adoption, Law Practice Management/Technology, Assisted Reproduction Technology, Ethics, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Governmental Relations (former Chair), International Law and Military Law Committees (former Chair) and is a volunteer with both Operation Standby [legal assistance to service members] and Operation LAMP [Legal Assistance for Military Families]. Phil is also an observer on the 2014 Uniform Law Commission Drafting Committee on Non-Parental Rights to Custody and Visitation. Phil also volunteers his services as the past Secretary and a Board Member for Trinity Legal Clinic of Oklahoma, Inc. and is a volunteer attorney for Legal Aid of Western Oklahoma. He is an Adjunct Professor of Law teaching both family law and civil procedure classes as well as a member of the National Court Appointed Special Advocates Association (“CASA”) and since 2013 to present is a recognized “Super Lawyer” in Oklahoma family law. Phil enjoys the distinguished honor of having an annual award for outstanding Guardian ad Litem representation named after him. The Tucker Award was established by the OBA/FLS in approximately 2000.
