John A. Zervopoulos, Ph.D., J.D., ABPP, is a lawyer and board-certified forensic psychologist. He directs PsychologyLaw Partners, a national consulting practice that helps lawyers understand, critique, and use psychological materials and evidence in their cases, and assists lawyers when drafting and editing motions and briefs to the court that relate to experts' work and testimony. Dr. Zervopoulos has published books and journal articles that help lawyers manage psychological evidence and examine mental health testimony. His latest book, How to Examine Mental Health Experts: A Family Lawyer's Handbook of Issues and Strategies-Second Ed., was issued in 2020. His previous book, Confronting Mental Health Evidence: A Practical PLAN to Examine Reliability and Experts in Family Law-Second Ed., was released in 2015. Both books are published by the American Bar Association. In addition, Dr. Zervopoulos writes a free semi-monthly email, titled PsychologyLaw Brief, that offers practice tips for lawyers on psychological materials and mental health testimony. Dr. Zervopoulos received his B.A. from Wheaton College (IL), his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of North Texas, and his J.D. from Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law. In his previous psychology practice, he specialized in conducting court-appointed psychological evaluations and court-appointed counseling in a broad range of family law cases.
