David Bernhart, Jr., Esq., received his B.A. in Political Science in 1982, and his J.D. in 1987 from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska. Licensed to practice law in Colorado on May 16, 1990, he was a sole practitioner and founding partner in the metropolitan area. Previous practice areas encompassed real estate transactions, corporate and partnership law, landlord/tenant, criminal defense, domestic relations, civil, bankruptcy, and small business. Mr. Bernhart started with the Human Services Section, Fraud Unit, in February, 1998, and transitioned to the Adult Protection Unit in February, 2001. He transferred to the Mental Health Unit in August, 2005, also covered Adult Protection Unit duties from March, 2006 to July, 2007, and then resumed full-time responsibilities with the Adult Protection Unit in July, 2007. Mr. Bernhart is a member of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations, and frequently speaks on County and State adult protection laws and process.
