Lissi Mojica is an officer at Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner, P.A (SLW) and is considered to be among the world's foremost experts in reexamination procedures. Prior to joining the SLW, Ms. Mojica was a senior advisor at a Washington D.C. patent law firm, and served as an Associate Chair for the firm's Post Grant Law/Patent Reexamination Practice Group. Ms. Mojica was also the first ever director for the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) and under her direction, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) experienced unprecedented utilization of the reexamination process. Ms. Mojica is experienced with interferences in the USPTO and was in charge of setting policies, standards, and procedures and developing Inter Partes and Ex Parte Reexamination training for CRU examiners. Additionally, she spearheaded many important Manual of Patent Examining Procedures (MPEP) revisions that led to the implementation of rule changes along with reviewing and ruling on petitions regarding the reexamination process. Ms. Mojica lectures frequently at the Global International Patent Academy on issues concerning Reexaminations, Patent Quality and Patent Examination matters. A nineteen-year veteran of a variety of Intellectual Property matters, acquired through various posts at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Ms. Mojica provides clients with important insight and expertise associated with patent reexamination and has been personally involved in over 100 reexaminations since her departure from the CRU.
