Scott Hutchings
Waste ManagementScott Hutchings is currently the manager of Public & Government Affairs for Waste Management's Colorado-Utah Market area. He manages the legislative and political activities, as well as oversees the contract lobbyists. He also serves and represents the company on the Policy Committee for the Colorado Association for Recycling, as a board member of the Aurora Economic Development Council, Colorado Motor Carriers and as Vice Chair of Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry Industrial Waste Committee. Scott Hutchings has spent the last fifteen years working in campaigns and political relations at all levels of government. He has worked with elected officials, non-profit organizations and business. Prior to joining Waste Management, Scott served as Governor Bill Ritter's Director of Advance. He managed all gubernatorial trips, which included coordinating press, issue briefings, community outreach and the Governor's protective detail. Most notably, Scott handled all logistics for Governor Ritter during the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver and acted as Director of the 41st Gubernatorial Inaugural celebration. Prior to joining the Governor's staff, he was a Denver City Council Aide for three years to Council President Rosemary Rodriguez where he managed legislative duties, including crafting ordinances, community mediation and press relations. He served on Denver's Graffiti and Telecom Task Force committees. Scott spent 7 years as a political consultant working with a variety of clients and candidates.
