Courtney T. Denson

2nd Judicial District
The Honorable Courtney Denson is originally from Birmingham, AL. Courtney earned his B.A. from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN and his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa, AL. After moving to Colorado in 2011, Courtney practiced as a Deputy and Senior Deputy Public Defender in the Denver trial office of the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender from 2011 until 2018. He then worked as an independent contractor with the Office of the Alternate Defense Counsel in Denver Juvenile Court and the Office of the Child Representative in Adams County until early 2021. Courtney was hired as a Magistrate in the First Judicial District, Jefferson County in 2020 where he presided over Domestic Relations, Truancy, Child Support, Paternity, and Protection Order cases. In March of 2024, he became a Magistrate in Denver Juvenile Court where he currently presides over Delinquency, Dependency and Neglect, Child Support, Paternity, and Truancy cases. In his spare time, Courtney enjoys spending time with his family and friends and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide.
