Jim Porter, MA, MAC, NCACII, LAC, is a Colorado Licensed Addictions Counselor that has worked in the Substance Abuse field for over thirty years. Mr. Porter is the Executive Program Director of Life Works Recovery, Inc. in Lakewood, CO and serves as the clinical director of treatment services for the Jefferson County Recovery Court. He is internationally recognized for his work with marijuana-dependent clients and is a nationally published author. Mr. Porter developed the protocol for the treatment of high-risk, high-need offenders in Jefferson County who are dependent on stimulant drugs (methamphetamine and cocaine) and failing in the criminal justice system. He has also treated over 3,000 cannabis-dependent clients over the last thirteen years. Mr. Porter is in high demand to lecture and present workshops encompassing the realities of marijuana dependence, post acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS) and relapse prevention strategies though out the state of Colorado. He is considered a specialist in the evaluation, education and treatment of chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders.
