Gary Richards designs and conducts CLE programs and tailored workshops for individual law firms and legal associations. He has served clients in the USA, Canada, England, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Brazil and Egypt. Richards' experience includes being a pension trust officer at a major regional bank for four years, during which time he attended law school at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He also has experience as a defined contribution pension specialist at KPMG Peat Marwick employee benefit consulting division for six and a half years.
Gary is an alumnus of KPMG LLP, where he began his professional consulting background for five years as a consultant. Before that, he was a stockbroker, a trust officer and Director of a division of an international cross-cultural exchange organization. He addressed the American Bar Association's National Convention in Hawaii and has been on the program for the Young Lawyer's Chapter in Chicago and New Orleans. He has addressed the state meeting of the Virginia Bar and has also presented his customized workshops to Bar Associations of Missouri, Nevada, Oregon, Massachusetts, Indiana, Virginia, Kansas, Nebraska, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, as well as to Washington Defenders Association, and the Cincinnati and Cleveland Bar Associations. He also conducted workshops for bar associations in eight Canadian provinces, and develops and conducts tailored workshops for entire law firms, including their paralegals and clerical staff as well as corporate legal departments. He participated with R. Alec Mackenzie (author of The Time Trap) in a nationwide study of U.S. lawyers and Canadian barristers on personal characteristics that enhanced good law practice but interfered with good time management. His other courses for lawyers include: How To Get Work Done In A Law Firm, How to Keep Clients Happy (Profitable Client Service Skills), How to Reach Productive Agreements ( Day-To-Day Negotiating Skills), How To Conduct Productive Meetings, How to Write to be Read, How To Thrive As Legal Support Staff, and How to Shrink Accounts Receivable. He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, attained the Certified Financial Planner designation, is a former member of the Association for Continuing Legal Education (ACLEA), and a former member of the American Society for Training and Development.
