Denver Water Board
William (Bill) Bates, P.E. has been employed by Denver Water for 30 years in the Planning
Division. Denver Water provides water to over 1.3 million people in the City of Denver and
surrounding suburbs. In that capacity, he oversaw the operation of its water supply collection
system, involving 17 reservoirs in both the South Platte and Colorado River Basins. He has also managed the protection, acquisition and development of water rights used to meet demands of the Denver Water customers. Prior to his employment with Denver Water, he worked 5 years as a plant engineer in a refinery and with a consulting firm in the Denver area. He has served as an officer in the American Water Resources Association’s Colorado Section. Bill received his Bachelors and Masters of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado.
