Kate M. Lewis, Esq., is a Partner at Cooper Ramp Cage Bucar Lewis, LLC. Kate is currently the Chair of the Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Executive Council, is the Past-President of the Metro Denver Interdisciplinary Committee, was the Co-Chair of the Family Law Institute in 2020 and 2023, and enjoys learning and lecturing about the overlap between the mental health profession and family law. She specializes her practice in complex asset divorce and high conflict parenting disputes, including cases involving mental health issues, domestic violence, and substance abuse. Kate obtained her law degree from Washington University in St. Louis and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Columbia University. Kate has most recently lectured on litigation in substance abuse cases, grandparent visitation rights, third party visitation rights and jurisdictional issues in post decree cases, and has written articles about navigating the legal process as a pro se party. Kate has also helped draft and edit chapters of the Domestic Relations Bench Bar Book and is honored to present this CLE on Separation Agreements and Parenting Plans with her colleague and friend, Erica Kemmerley. Kate went to law school solely with the intent of practicing family law and she truly enjoys the practice. Kate has been honored to receive a Rising Star distinction award each year since 2014 and became a Super Lawyer in 2022. She was also voted Best Lawyers “Lawyer of the Year” for family law arbitration in 2022 and has been voted a 5280 Top Lawyer in 2022 and 2023. Kate is also an Ironman, marathoner, ultra-marathoner, and general endurance enthusiast. In 2021 Kate completed the Leadville 100 ultramarathon. Kate's co-presenter, Erica, has hiked more fourteeners than Kate can count and accompanied Kate and her daughter in her daughter's first 5k race in 2023.
