Alan Obye, Esq., is Senior Assistant Regulation Counsel at the Colorado Supreme Court Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel. Alan investigates and prosecutes attorney discipline cases before the Presiding Disciplinary Judge and the Colorado Supreme Court. He also handles attorney admissions and unauthorized practice of law cases, as well as matters before the Board of Trustees of the Attorneys' Fund for Client Protection. Alan assisted in the investigation and prosecution of In re Thomas in Maricopa County, Arizona, considered one of the largest attorney discipline cases in U.S. history. He also conducted research and writing related to limited-license legal technicians (LLLTs) and proactive management-based regulation, served on Judicial Advisory Council and Supreme Court Advisory Committee subcommittees on LLLTs, and served on the Advisory Committee Subcommittee on Admissions Rule Changes. Alan is a graduate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, the National Organization of Bar Counsel, and the American Bar Association. He has published articles in the ABA-BNA Lawyer's Manual on Professional Conduct and The Colorado Lawyer. Alan received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and his law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law. Alan enjoys mountain biking, muay Thai, and spending time with his German Shepherd rescue dog.
