Maria DeHowitt, JD, is a licensed Colorado attorney and an Investigator with the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX at the University of Denver. Prior to joining the University, Maria conducted Title VII investigations for private employers throughout Colorado.  She began her investigatory career while working at Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD), where she investigated employment and public accommodation discrimination cases and other civil rights violations. Maria was the sole bilingual investigator at CCRD and responsible for investigating charges filed by monolingual Spanish speakers. As a practicing attorney, she represented injured workers in workers' compensation claims, primarily in the hospitality and construction industries. Maria holds a Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law and received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles.
