Susan E. McGahan, Esq., is Assistant Vice President - Senior Legal Counsel is in the Contracts and Transaction Center of Expertise at AT&T, after two decades in the Intellectual Property Group. She practiced for many years in private practice in NYC. She is former chair of the AT&T Legal Pro Bono Committee and currently serves as regional Chair of AT&T Northeast Pro Bono. She has been involved in pro bono matter for over two decades while employed at AT&T. She is the former President of the Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (“VLJ”) and represents a client on death row for Bryan Stevenson at the Equal Justice Initiative in Alabama. Susan is responsible for IP issues arising in supply chain agreements and in large commercial agreements. She has created IP playbooks for transactional lawyers to streamline the negotiations process as part of a new transformation occurring in AT&T legal. This led to Susan winning one of AT&T's Legal Spotlight Award. Susan was a finalist in the AT&T Community Impact Award for her grassroots efforts during the Covid pandemic in having private clubs adopt local hospitals and supply them with food, beverages, PPE, etc. See www.clubshelp.org. She is a former Girl Scout leader and continues to lead community service projects with St. Peter's Orphanage in Denville and supports From Houses to Homes based in Guatemala, where she annually visits with her two teenage daughters to build in 5 days a home for Mayan workers made out of cement. Susan earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Bridgeport, and her J.D. from New York Law School. Susan is admitted to the bars of New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts, the federal courts in New York and the Federal Circuit, and is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
