Zane Gilmer, Esq., is a partner with the national law firm of Stinson Leonard Street LLP.  Zane is a member of the firm's litigation practice group.  As part of his litigation practice, he represents clients in complex litigation matters, primarily related to consumer class action defense, securities and investment disputes, and finance.  In 2014, he was one of only a handful of attorneys who, along with several state court judges, provided oral argument to the Colorado Supreme Court in support of the passage of RPC 1.2(d), Comment 14 (the ethics rule that permits Colorado attorneys to provide legal advice to clients concerning cannabis related activity).  As part of his cannabis practice, Zane advises clients from a wide variety of industries, including finance, real estate, manufacturing, and technology concerning the legal and regulatory implications of doing business with cannabis companies.  He has become national known for his work in the cannabis banking and finance industries, where he has advised numerous bank and non-bank financial institutions on BSA/AML issues concerning cannabis banking, set up and implemented cannabis banking programs for multiple institutions, trained federal bank examiners on BSA/AML issues concerning cannabis banking, and he regularly speaks on the issue at conferences and client events across the country.
