Scott Brairton is Senior Counsel in Perkins Coie's patent prosecution group and focuses his practice on preparing and prosecuting US and international patent applications, providing intellectual property portfolio counseling, and drafting opinions on patentability, freedom to operate, and patent validity. Scott has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia and works extensively with clients in the oil and gas, clean tech, medical device and food and beverage industries. Prior to law school, he worked as a Patent Examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has previously presented on various intellectual property topics at the 2016 and 2017 Denver Startup Week and at the 2017 Rochester (NY) Engineering Symposium.
