Joseph G. Michaels

Michaels, Esq., is an Assistant Solicitor General at the Colorado Attorney General's office, where his practice consists of appellate and litigation matters, spanning civil, criminal, and constitutional cases, as well as general counsel and legislative work. He has been lead counsel in over 500 appeals, has argued nearly 90 cases before Colorado's appellate courts, and has practiced in all levels of state and federal court. Mr. Michaels also is involved with the greater legal community, where, among other roles, he is a member and past Chair of the Colorado Bar Association Ethics Committee and Past Chair of Denver's Board of Ethics. He has taught and published on a variety of topics, including numerous appellate and trial practice matters, criminal law issues, legal writing, land use law, legislative updates, and ethics issues ranging from AI to confidentiality to misconduct. He received his J.D. from the University of Iowa.
