Joseph G. Michaels

Michaels, Esq., is an Assistant Solicitor General and Senior Assistant Attorney General at the Colorado Attorney General's office, where his practice focuses on appellate, civil, constitutional, criminal, general counsel, and legislative matters. He has been lead counsel in over 500 appeals and presented over 80 oral arguments, primarily before Colorado's appellate courts, and has practiced in all levels of state and federal court. Mr. Michaels also is involved with the greater legal community, where, among other roles, he is the Immediate Past Chair of the Colorado Bar Association Ethics Committee and Past Chair of Denver's Board of Ethics. He has taught and published on a variety of topics, including on appellate and trial practice, criminal law matters, ethics issues, land use law, and legislative updates. He received his J.D. from the University of Iowa.
