Monica J. Gomez

4th Judicial District
Honorable Monica Gomez was appointed to the Douglas County Court bench in the 18th Judicial District in March, 2007. She currently sits in a trial division which handles criminal misdemeanor and traffic matters and small claims cases. Prior to her appointment, she served as a Drug Court Magistrate in the 4th Judicial District and as a worker's compensation lawyer. She also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Employment Division and taught as a full time Law Professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, and an adjunct evening professor of Criminal Procedure. Judge Gomez began her legal career as a Colorado Deputy Public Defender and served in that capacity between 1992 and 2004. She obtained her law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law.
