Jane Walsh, Esq., is a Senior Deputy in the Denver District Attorney's Office, and leads the Elder and At-Risk Protection Unit. She prosecutes exclusively elder and at-risk crime, and also manages a successful and active program of outreach to both the senior community and professionals in the Denver Metro area. Prior to joining the Second Judicial District Attorney's Office, she established and managed a felony at-risk unit in Boulder District Attorney's Office for seven years. She has presented elder abuse cases in front of Boulder County Grand Jury, Denver Grand Jury and the Statewide Grand Jury. She has prosecuted racketeering, financial exploitation and physical abuse and neglect of older adults, taking many cases to trial. She specializes in complex and multi-victim financial cases. She also established and coordinated an Elder Fatality Review Team for Boulder County, the only one of its kind in Colorado. Jane has worked with legislators on several bills to make changes to the law in Colorado to hold perpetrators of these crimes accountable. She works with the National Clearinghouse for Abuse in Later Life (“NCALL”) to train prosecutors and law enforcement across the country in the investigation and prosecution of cases of elder abuse, neglect and exploitation. She has presented for the Elder Justice Initiative of the Department of Justice on how to build and try financial exploitation cases.
