Michael B. Garlan

17th Judicial District

The Honorable Michael Garlan started his legal career as a Public Defender in Pueblo and Arapahoe Counties from 2007-2015 and then went into private practice. In private practice, Magistrate Garlan had a general practice handling criminal, civil, and domestic relations cases. After becoming a Magistrate in the 17th Judicial District, Magistrate Garlan presided over all civil protection order and small claims cases in Adams County from 2023-2025. He received a B.A. in Sociology in 2003 from the University of Colorado, and a J.D. from the University of Richmond in 2007. Magistrate Garlan serves on the board of the Colorado Magistrates Association and currently presides over criminal and traffic matters.
