Michael Francisco, Esq., is an attorney and partner of MRDLaw. The former Colorado Assistant Solicitor General and Tenth Circuit law clerk's practice covers all aspects of commercial litigation, appeals, and strategic counseling for growing businesses and entrepreneurs, as well as for religious institutions and other nonprofit entities. He also focuses on campaign finance law and governmental ethics issues. His litigation experience includes arguing several cases before the Colorado Supreme Court and counsel of record on several briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition to appellate work, his experience includes all phases of trial work, mediation, and arbitration. He has also counseled both for-profit and nonprofit entities on corporate formation, corporate governance issues, and contract formation. Michael has also provided general employment advice. Prior to joining MRDLaw, Michael served as Assistant Solicitor General for Colorado's Attorney General. In this role, he handled high-profile litigation on public issues defending challenges to the Colorado Constitution, including the challenges to Colorado's traditional marriage laws. He also advised the Attorney General on legal and policy work on many issues, ranging from Colorado's Taxpayers Bill of Rights (TABOR) to various First Amendment conflicts. He has spoken nationally on the topic of attorney ethics and marijuana laws as well as federalism conflicts arising out of Colorado's marijuana experiment. Michael also spent time in private practice for Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons (now Lewis Roca Rothgerber) and clerked for Judge Tim Tymkovich on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Michael received his J.D. from Cornell Law School and his B.A. from Hillsdale College. He is a member of the Federalist Society and sits on the board of directors for Summit Ministries. Michael resides in Colorado Springs with his family.
