Natalie A. Girard Stricklin

Judge Natalie Girard Stricklin is a Michigan native. She graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan in 2003 with Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and Magna Cum Laude from Michigan State University College of Law in 2007.  In 2007, Judge Stricklin accepted a position as a Deputy State Public Defender with the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender. She worked in the Greeley Regional Office as a Deputy State Public Defender from 2007 to 2010 and the Arapahoe Regional Office as a Senior Deputy State Public Defender from 2010 to 2015.  After several months in private practice handling criminal defense and family law cases, in November of 2015, Judge Stricklin accepted a position to serve as an Assistant Federal Public Defender for the Districts of Colorado and Wyoming.  After nearly 16 years serving as a public defender, Judge Stricklin was appointed to the District Court bench in the 18th Judicial District in December of 2023. Returning to Arapahoe County after 8 years away felt like a homecoming.  Judge Stricklin is proud to be a judicial officer in the community where she served as a Deputy State Public Defender for 5 years and where she and her husband have chosen to reside and raise their family.  Judge Stricklin presides over a District Court Criminal Docket.  Judge Stricklin has guest lectured at both the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver and the University of Colorado Law School.
