The Iris Project
Jennifer Moore Ballentine, MA, President of The Iris Project, is a hospice and palliative care advocate, educator, and consultant. She offered the only comprehensive educational programs for professionals and providers immediately after passage of the Colorado End of Life Options Act, and currently serves on the End of Life Option Act Steering Committee for California. Since 2008, she has authored the chapter on hospice and palliative care for the Colorado Bar Association's Senior Law Handbook and presented at numerous Senior Law Day events. She had a major role in the formulation and passage of the 2010 Medical Orders for Scope of Treatment legislation and has contributed to numerous statewide and national policy and regulatory taskforces on issues affecting end-of-life care. She is Chair of the Colorado Advance Directives Consortium, Chair of the San Diego Coalition for Compassionate Care, and a member of the Ethics Advisory Council for the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization. She has served as Vice President for Hospice Analytics and as Executive Director of Life Quality Institute. She earned a Master's degree in End-of-Life Studies from Regis University with graduate honors and Bachelor's, Phi Beta Kappa, from Oberlin College. In September, Jennifer will assume the position of Executive Director at the California State University Institute for Palliative Care.
