NBCUniversalMei-lan E.W. Stark is Senior Vice President & Chief Counsel, Intellectual Property for NBCUniversal. In this role, Mei-lan oversees the intellectual property legal group and rights team, which are located in London, New York and Los Angeles. The team advise all divisions of NBCUniversal worldwide on intellectual property and rights issues of every kind. Mei-lan's group supports the film studios, the broadcast and cable television businesses, including, the NBC and Telemundo broadcast television networks, as well as the News division with NBC News, MSNBC and CNBC and the sports business with Golf Channel and NBC Sports. In addition to the film and television businesses, Mei-lan's team works closely with the global Brand Development and Theme Parks businesses. Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Mei-lan spent over ten years heading the intellectual property legal team at Fox Entertainment. And prior to that Mei-lan spent several years with The Walt Disney Company. Mei-lan began her career as an intellectual property attorney at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton following her graduation from Yale Law School in 1994. Mei-lan is currently serving on the Trademark Public Advisory Committee for the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She served as President of the International Trademark Association (INTA) Board of Directors in 2014. She formerly served as President Elect, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary and as a Director of the INTA Board and as Vice Chair of the Programs Committee. In addition to her INTA service, Mei-lan has served on the Board of Trustees of Whittier College, the Board of the Western Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition and the Board of The Los Angeles Center for Law & Justice, a legal aid group that provides pro bono services to the East Los Angeles Communities. Mei-lan was the recipient of the Managing IP's Americas Women in Business Law Intellectual Property In-House Attorney of the Year award in 2013 and was honored by the Century City Bar Association as the Intellectual Property Lawyer of the Year in 2014. In 2015, Mei-lan received the IP Vanguard Award for In-House Counsel from the California State Bar Association. Mei-lan is also the Assistant Principal Cellist in the Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic.
