Paul Swanson is a partner in the Wisconsin law firm of Steinhilber, Swanson, LLP with offices in Oshkosh and Madison, WI. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh with a major in accounting and his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1979.  He is a board certified bankruptcy specialist in both business and consumer bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification since 1993.  He represents individuals and entities in business and financial reorganizations, restructurings, bankruptcy, receiverships and other debt adjustment strategies. Representation is limited primarily to debtors in both simple and complex matters. Mr. Swanson is currently the President Elect of the State Bar of Wisconsin and serves on its Executive & Finance Committees.  He is Past-Chair and continues to serve on the Continuing Legal Education Committee of the State Bar, and is Past-Chair of the Bankruptcy Insolvency and Creditors Rights Section. He is a Past President of the State Bar Young Lawyers Division, served as Chair of the Board of Governors 2014-15, Treasurer for the term of 1994-1995, and has served on the Board of Governors for terms spanning 1987 to 1995 and 2008 through 2016. He also serves as the Co-Chair of the Advisory Board for the American Bankruptcy Institute Central States Conference. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Eastern District of Wisconsin Federal Bar Association. He is the Past President of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees (2005) and served on that Board from 1994 through 2006. He is currently a Chapter 7 panel trustee in the Eastern District of Wisconsin.  He is the Co-Chair of the Federal Judicial Selection Commission for the State of Wisconsin. Mr. Swanson has and continues to lecture on bankruptcy related topics for the State Bar of Wisconsin, University of Wisconsin Law School, the National Advocacy Center for the United States Department of Justice, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and he organizes the bankruptcy section for the annual Law Education Institute.
