Helland, Esq., is a partner at Knies, Helland & McPherson, a family law firm in Colorado Springs, focusing her attention on complex child custody disputes, military divorces, and high asset cases. Jenni has a passion for working with families and advocating for her clients and children, bringing a therapeutic background to her practice. She also serves as a CLR, PC/DM and is a certified mediator. Jenni is a graduate of The University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minnesota where she served as a student attorney in an interdisciplinary divorce clinic partnering with doctoral psychology students. Through this clinic, she served clients in the Hennepin County Family Court, a specialized family court instrumental in developing nationally recognized best practices. She also served as a student attorney with the Rocky Mountain Children's Law Center. Prior to becoming an attorney, Jenni worked for Savio House and Chins Up, as a Multisystemic Therapist and served as a high school Behavioral Specialist working with 504 plans and IEPs. Jenni is a current member of the CBA Family Law Executive Committee, an AAML fellow, member of the 4th Judicial Best Practices Committee, and a member of the AFCC. She is the former chair of the El Paso County Bar Association's Family Law Section, past member of the CBA Board of Governors, current CBA and EPCBA member, founding board member of Liberty Tree Academy, a charter school in District 49, and ten-year Level 4 youth hockey coach. Her firm has been acknowledged several times for their work pro bono work, earning the Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year award in 2019 from The Justice Center.
