Honorable Edward A. Infante (ret.) is a former Chief Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, where he served from 1990-2001. He also served as a U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Southern District of California (1972-1985). From 1988-1990 he served as a United States Trustee in Region XV Southern District of California, District of Hawaii, Territory of Guam, and Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands. Judge Infante currently serves as a full-time mediator with JAMS where he has settled numerous complex cases involving a wide range of issues. He has successfully mediated hundreds of intellectual property disputes encompassing technology areas from biotechnology (pharmaceutical and medical device), semiconductor, computer software and hardware, internet and e-commerce, and consumer electronics. Judge Infante has been selected as the Best Mediator in the Bay Area for two consecutive years in 2007 and 2008 and as one of the three Best Neutrals in the Bay Area (2009), through an open survey of attorneys by The Recorder. He has also been recognized as a Top California Neutral by the Daily Journal (2001-2009).
