Originally from Bettendorf, Iowa, Shane D. Fleener attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he obtained his B.A. in speech in 1999. He worked for two years in the marketing department of Vail Resorts Management Company before returning to Chicago, where he attended Loyola University of Chicago School of Law and received his J.D. with honors in 2004.
Mr. Fleener began his legal career as an associate with Kelley Drye & Warren, LLP in Chicago. While there, he represented corporate telecommunications clients in administrative proceedings before the Illinois Commerce Commission. In 2006, he relocated to Denver to practice with the law offices of McKenzie, Rhody & Hearn, LLP, a boutique firm engaged in construction defect litigation. While there, Mr. Fleener testified before the Colorado Supreme Court, presented multiple CLE courses, and successfully represented numerous clients in federal and state courts. In 2012, Mr. Fleener switched his focus to the oil and gas industry and began working at Carleton Gotlin Law PC, where his practice primarily focuses on drafting complex Drilling and Division Order Title Opinions and representing oil and gas clients in curative probate proceedings.
He is admitted to practice law in Colorado, Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Denver Bar Association, Denver Association of Oil and Gas Title Lawyers, and American Bar Association.
