Colorado Disability Determination Services
Vicki L. Johnson has been the Director of the Colorado Disability Determination Services (SSS) since August 2005. This is a state agency under the Department of Human Services, Office of Community Access and Independence. She is Past President of the National Council of Disability Determination Directors (NCDDD), a professional association composed of Directors and Managers of the Disability Determination Services (DDS) agencies located in each state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. She is a member of the National Association of Disability Examiners. She has participated on a number of special projects with SSA partners including but not limited to the SSA Disability Case Processing System Steering Committee (DCPS) developing a “common system”, Single Decision Maker Workgroup, “Quality Matters” and the Quality Council. Ms. Johnson was born in Los Angeles and raised in southern California. She is a graduate of California State University, Dominguez Hills. She received Disability Hearing Officer Certification from the Institute of Administrative Justice, College of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.  This will be her fifth presentation on the faculty of the Colorado Bar Association, Continuing Legal Education in Colorado. Ms. Johnson worked for the Wyoming DDS for 22 years, starting as a Disability Examiner trainee and working through all professional levels at the DDS, including policy and quality assurance supervisor. She was the Wyoming DDS Director from 1996 through 2004. She has received numerous individual, state, regional, and national awards for her leadership and work to provide the highest possible level of public service to persons with disabilities.
