Social Security Administration Region VIIINancy Berryhill is the Regional Commissioner for the Social Security Administration's Denver Region. She assumed this position in January, 2006. The Denver Region is compromised of Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Utah. Ms. Berryhill is responsible for administration of the Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Programs for the six states in the region. Nancy directs 836 federal employees in field offices, and a Teleservice Center. The Denver Region pays over 1.4 million beneficiaries about $ 1.4 billion in monthly benefits. Nancy started her career with the Social Security Administration as a student employee in 1975. Throughout her distinguished career with Social Security she has held many management positions including Operations Supervisor, Assistant District Manager, District Manager and Area Director. She was a participant in the Chicago Region Upward Bound program and served in various assignments as Section Chief on the Regional SSI staff, at the Teleservice Center and in Field Operations. Nancy was selected to the Senior Executive Service Program in October 2002 and completed her program in October 2003 when she appointed to the Senior Executive Service. As part of her SES assignments, Nancy worked for the Department of Homeland Security and in the Office of the Commissioner of the Social Security Administration. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Nancy obtained her degree in Computer Science at the Control Data Institute in Chicago. Nancy has been the recipient of many agency awards including Regional Commissioner's Citations and the Commissioner's Citation in 1995, the agency's highest and most distinguished award.
