Lance P. Timbreza
Mesa County Combined CourtLance Phillip Timbreza was appointed to the district court by Gov. John Hickenlooper on June 28, 2016, and was sworn in on August 12, 2016. Prior to his appointment, Judge Timbreza was in private practice in the areas of civil litigation and domestic relations. Judge Timbreza began his career at Dorsey & Whitney, LLP in Seattle, WA before returning to Grand Junction, CO. Judge Timbreza practiced with both Traylor, Tompkins & Black, P.C. and the Daniels Law Group prior to taking the bench.
Judge Timbreza received his B.A. in history from Mesa State College (now Colorado Mesa University) and his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law, summa cum laude. Judge Timbreza received the CALI Award (formerly Am. Jur. Award) in Contracts I & II, Legal Research & Writing I & II, and State Constitutional Law. He is a Fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation and chair of its Board of Trustees, Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and Fellow of the Fellows of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. Judge Timbreza is a member of the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professional Development and the CBA’s Executive Council. He has served as the chair of the CBA’s Young Lawyers Division, the CBA Board of Governors, president of the Mesa County Bar Association, and is a member of the Colorado LGBT Bar Association, Colorado Hispanic Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, and Mesa County Bar Association.
