Jennifer Eyl, Esq., is an Attorney and Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked in the fields of domestic and sexual violence since 1994. She is the Executive Director at Project Safeguard in Denver, Colorado. Project Safeguard provides legal advocacy and attorney assistance in civil protection orders, domestic relations, and other areas of law encountered by survivors of gender-based violence. Before joining Project Safeguard, Jennifer was the Director of the Domestic Violence Program at the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center, where she supervised volunteer guardians ad litem in civil protection order matters involving domestic violence and sexual assault. She also spent several years working as a Child and Family Investigator in domestic relations matters. Prior to attending law school, Jennifer served as the Executive Director at WINGS Foundation, providing services to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, as a victim advocate at the Denver Police Department, and as a case manager at ACCESS Housing, a program for families experiencing homelessness. Jennifer is known statewide for her expertise in domestic and sexual violence and protection order, domestic relations and child welfare law. She trains social work and law students, attorneys, judges, court personnel, custody evaluators, victim advocates, law enforcement personnel, treatment providers and others on these issues. Jennifer is the recipient of the Colorado Domestic Violence and Sexual Offender Management Board’s Senator Norma Anderson Award for Excellence in Victim Advocacy. She is a member of the Public Policy Committees of the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Violence Free Colorado. She is a voting member of the Colorado Department of Human Services statewide Domestic Violence and Child Welfare Task Group, a member of the steering committee of the Legal Information Network of Colorado, a member of the Denver Juvenile Court’s Domestic Violence Best Practices Team, and a member of the Domestic Violence Offender Management Board’s Civil Legal Subcommittee.
