Nikea T. Bland

2nd District Court
Honorable Nikea T. Bland was appointed to the Second Judicial District Court (City and County of Denver) by Governor Polis in February 2020 and has since presided over both criminal and domestic dockets. Prior to her appointment, Judge Bland spent the majority of her career practicing as a criminal defense attorney, including spending nine years as a Senior Associate at O'Malley Law Office. Her practice consisted of criminal defense, as well as dependency and neglect matters as Respondent Parent Counsel. Previously, Judge Bland was an Associate Attorney with Elkus and Sisson, P.C. (2009-2011); Associate General Counsel with United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 7 (2009). Judge Bland began her legal career as a Deputy State Public Defender with the Denver Trial Office of the Colorado State Public Defender (2005-2009). Judge Bland earned her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 2005 and her B.A. from University of Richmond in 2000.
