Michael W. Angel
2nd Judicial DistrictThe Honorable Michael W.V. Angel is a District Court Judge for the 2nd Judicial District (Denver County). He was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, attended Miami University for college and Wake Forest University for law school. His parents spent their careers as public servants, and he followed their example. He has worked for a non-profit representing low-income and indigent individuals on civil, criminal, and domestic matters, practiced federal criminal defense, was a deputy district attorney in rural and metro jurisdictions, and was with the Colorado Attorney General’s office prior to his appointment to the bench. In the decade before his appointment, he specialized in investigating and prosecuting international drug trafficking organizations with state and federal task forces. He was appointed as a magistrate in the 17th Judicial District in 2022 and appointed as a Denver District Court Judge in 2024, where he currently presides over a domestic relations docket. In his free time, he enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and spending time outdoors with his wife and three young children.
