Jennifer A. Simmons

Honorable Jennifer A. Simmons is an Administrative Law Judge with the Denver Office of Hearings & Appeals.  She began her ALJ career in July 2011 in the San Bernardino Hearing Office.  Judge Simmons is the creator of the Virtual Screening Unit - a national cadre of senior attorney adjudicators reviewing and adjudicating on-the-record cases.  As part of her work with the Virtual Screening Unit, Judge Simmons developed in-person Senior Attorney Adjudication Training, and Distance Learning Training.  She mentored lead attorneys and senior attorneys on case management, legal matters, and working with representatives.  She led the Virtual Screening Unit from September 2009 until July 2011.  Judge Simmons began her career with OHA in the Baltimore Hearing Office in 1998, and then moved to the Kansas City Writing Unit in 2000.  During her legal career, she has also worked as the Deputy Neosho County Kansas Attorney (1997-1998); Research Attorney for the Johnson County Kansas District Court (2001-2003); and a private attorney (2000, 2003-2004). She re-joined OHA in the Denver Regional Writing Unit in 2004.  Within ODAR, she has participated in the following assignments: acting group supervisor in the Denver Hearing Office, attorney in the national screening unit, and senior attorney in the Denver ODAR/Office of Quality Review Screening Unit.  Jennifer is a graduate of Washburn University Law School, where she was a Publications Editor and published member of the Law Review.
