Carlton Stansbury is a shareholder with Burbach & Stansbury S.C. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  He is listed in Best Lawyers of America, one of Wisconsin's Top 10 Super Lawyers, and selected for Lifetime Achievement in America's Top 100 Attorneys.  He is AV pre-eminent rated in both Martindale-Hubbell's lawyer directory and in the Judicial Edition.  He was the Editor-in-Chief of the Wisconsin Journal of Family Law for approximately six years. He is a fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a fellow in the International Academy of Family Lawyers.  He is the past President of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts and past President of the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is a past Chair of the State Bar of Wisconsin Family Law Section, the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin, Inc. and the Society of Family Lawyers.  He has served as the chair of the Publication Development Board and Finance Committee for the ABA Family Law Section and was a Council member for many years.   He also served as the American Bar Association Advisor to the Uniform Law Commission Drafting Committee on the Uniform Collaborative Law Act.   He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law with distinction.  He has spoken to audiences throughout the country.  He has published articles in the Iowa Law Review, the Wisconsin Lawyer, the Wisconsin Journal of Family Law, the New York Domestic Relations Reporter, the Family Advocate, GPSOLO, American Journal of Family Law, Behavioral Sciences & the Law, Annual Wiley Family Law Update, and several American Bar Association publications.  He co-authored a chapter on Wisconsin Prenuptial Law published in Drafting Prenuptial Agreements, Skoloff, Singer, Jr. and Brown (Wolters Kluwer 1994; supp 2014 -2018).  He authored a book entitled The Family Law Practitioner's Guide to Social Security (American Bar Association 1995).  He is a court commissioner for the Honorable Frederick C. Rosa, Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge, and he is a fellow in the Wisconsin Law Foundation.
