J.A. (Tony) Patterson Jr., is the Chief Administrative Officer & General Counsel of Kalispell Regional Healthcare/Kalispell Regional Medical Center, an integrated healthcare system serving principally Northwest Montana, located in Kalispell, Montana. Before joining Kalispell Regional Healthcare, Tony was a partner in the Health Law Section of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. (now Norton Rose Fulbright), resident in its Dallas, Texas office. Tony received his J.D. (cum laude/Order of the Coif) from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1973. Tony is a delegate of the Health Law Section of the American Bar Association to the ABA House of Delegates and was the ABA Health Law Section's Chair in 2004-2005. Tony was listed in the Chambers & Partners Guide to America's Leading Lawyers for Business, in Healthcare Law, included in Who's/Who in American Law, The Best Lawyers in America and Texas Monthly “Super Lawyers”. Tony was listed as 2011 Lawyer of the Year in Health Law for Dallas by Best Lawyers, the oldest peer-review publication in the legal profession. He has taught as an adjunct professor at SMU Dedman School of Law on the taxation of deferred compensation, as an adjunct professor at the University of Iowa College of Law and at the University of Montana School of Law, teaching a course on the federal regulation of health care. Tony is certified as a specialist in Health Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and served a member of the Health Law Specialty Area exam committee of the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Tony has over forty years of experience in representing clients in a broad range of business transactions. His clients have included all types of business organizations (particularly non-profit tax-exempt, governmental and proprietary healthcare services provider organizations), and clients in real estate, joint venture and contractual arrangement transactions. Tony is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Glacier National Park Conservancy, Vice-President of the Shepherd's Hand Free Clinic in Whitefish, Montana, President of the American Bar Endowment, and is active in other legal and community groups.
